October 26, 2000

There was a meeting "Development of the Vessel Traffic Service and Information System for the Gulf of Finland". This meeting was in Helsinki (Espoo) in Research Centre VTT. The representatives of Transport Departments, Maritime Administrations and Vessel Traffic Services from Russia, Finland, Estonia took participance in this meeting. It was agreed the joint actions for the joint participance in TEDIM programme. A.Sala, M.Skavo and A.Varshavsky (St.-Petersburg Business Contact Centre "BIZKON") were as organizers and participants of this meeting.

September 17 - 18, 2000

The chief representative of St.-Petersburg Centre BIZKON in St.-Petersburg A.Varshavsky was included as a member in the official St.-Petersburg delegation on the "Days St.-Petersburg in Helsinki", devoting to 450 Helsinki anniversary. He presented some information about Centre's activity during one year on the Economical Forum, which was spent durring these Days. It was noted that the Kotka Centre's activity promotes to the collaboration not only for St.-Petersburg and Helsinki but also for Russia and Finland, some chiefs of BIZKON's members participated in this event (Trest Nr.16, JSC "Proletarsky zavod", Fund "Karelsky peresheek").

September 12 - 13, 2000

There was an international seminar "New materials and technologies for machinery and shipbuilding". The organizers were St.-Petersburg Centre BIZKON, CNII KM "PROMETEY" (St.-Petersburg), St.-Petersburg Engineering Academy and Lappeenranta Technical University. It was a first serious event which was spent in other Finland province (South Karelia). There were 10 reports of scientists and specialists from CNII KM "PROMETEY", St.-Petersburg Technical University, Baltisky Metallurgical Union. More than 40 finnish and swedish chiefs and specialists participated in this seminar and in the "round table" in business-centre "Kareltek". The new joint working group was created. It was prepared a Protocol about future joint actions for the searching and using the new materials (metals, first of all) and techologies.

July 20 - 21, 2000

The "hippodrom's" seminar was organized in Kouvola together with Kouvola hippodrom. The main subjects of this seminar were following:
- acquaintance with the finnish experience in the construction and employment of the hippodroms in Finland;
- discussion about the organization of Totalizator in St.-Petersburg on the Finnish horseraces;
- problems of the first hippodrom construction in St.-Petersburg.
The chiefs of Kymenlaakso put great attention to the new project "Promzona Rzevka" (Krasnogvardeiski region of St.-Petersburg). This project supposes that Technopark and hippodrom also may be created on this region.

July 14 - 15, 2000

Center BIZKON was visited by the delegation of the St.-Petersburg Engineering Academy for the acquantance with the exposition and discussion of cooperation problems. The delegation consisted from the directors of the paper plants, printing houses, textil enterprises, banks. The delegation was headed by the President of Academy Mr. Alexey Fedotov. There was a meeting with Finnish specialists.

July 5 - 6, 2000

The meeting of the Russian-Finnish non-tradition energy working group took place in St.-Petersburg. There were discussed the following questions:
- construction of the small power hydrostation in Palvanjarvi (Finland) (Chief constructor - JSC "INSET");
- reconstruction of the small power hydrostation "Andreevskaja" (not far from Vyborg);
- organization in October in Kotka the seminar concerning the hydropower energy for the students and specialists. Chief specialists from St.-Petersburg Technical University, Russian Academy of Sciences (Energetic Problem Division), JSC "INSET", JSC "Energo-Aliance, Hamina Energy, Kymenlaakso Polytechnik took participance in this meeting.

June 20 - 22, 2000

The first anniversary from the date of "BIZKON" discovering was celebrated. There were many St.-Petersburg and Finnish officials and Centre's participants. There was a very pleasant business trip on the ship "VIRE" around the Finnish Gulf (20.07). There was also the seminar (21.07) which was dedicated to 100-Anniversary of the introducing the standardization system in Russia. The Chief standartization St.-Petersburg representatives from Institute "Prometey", International "ASERT-BUREU", Association "Petrosert" reported on this seminar. It was a great interest to the Finnish specialist's information "How to do business in Finland?". St.-Petersburg delegation also visited Helsinki (Russian Scientific and Cultural Centre, Helsinki Metropolitan Development Corporation, International Exhibition "Energia - 2000".

April 10 - 12, 2000

Three russian-finnish working groups have passed at once in Centre "BIZKON". There were shipbuilding, building and non-traditional energy groups. The concrete problems are discussed: cooperation in reconstruction of St.-Petersburg buildings to 300-anniversary of St.-Petersburg, new project of using of Kronshtadt's forts, civil-engineering designs in Finland, safety of navigation in Finnish Gulf, joint civil-engineering design of microhydroelectric power station in Palvaanjarvi and other joint projects. There was also a first two-hour experimental session of a video-conference between Kotka and St.-Petersburg for the purposes of development of business between Russia and Finland. Deputy chief of Commitee of foreign contacts of St.-Petersburg Administration Mr. Makarov (in St.-Petersburg) and Director of Region Kymenlaakso Union Mr.Tapio Valinoro (in Kotka) took part in this session also.

March 14, 2000

The conference concerning of the "EURORUSSIA" programme took place in Kotka. Centre "BIZKON" organized the participation of the Russian delegation (St.-Petersburg Trade and export Development Centre, Association "Morflot", Association "EkoElectroTechnologies, JSC "Ardis" and others). The main aim of the Russian participance in this seminar is to attract St.-Petersburg enterprises to the new joint project "Safety for shipping in Finnish Golf".

February 21 - 25, 2000

Centre "BIZKON" was an organizer of the business trip to Region Kymenlaakso and Helsinki for the group of the chiefs of the enterprisers from Kurgan region of Russia. Kurgan region exported before to Finland some road machines. There were many talks and meetings with Finnish representatives in Trade chambers, plants (including Alstrom Pumps), Russian Palace of science and culture (in Helsinki) e.t.c. Kurgan region decided to found its representation in Finland for the increasing of export and business contacts.

February 14 - 17, 2000

Centre "BIZKON" was an organizer of the business trip in Helsinki of Spb chiefs of the shipping and shipbuilding companies. There were the chiefs of JVC Severnaya Verf, JC Experimentalny Zavod, concern Morflot e.t.c. All members of this delegation are the participants of BIZKON shipping working group. There were visits to VTT Technology Centre, Ministry of transport, Kverner Masa Yards . The main aim of this visit was a continuation of the searchs of the subjects for the joint projects. ”Safety of shipping in Finnish Gulf” was a main subject for discussions.
