  Ńentre BIZKON has organized visit of the St.-Petersburg delegation to Bruxelles
Office of Southeast Finland, St.-Petersburg and Leningrad region (opened in April 2004 for support and preparation of the joint European projects).
Simultaneously the delegation of South-East Finland arrived to Bruxelles (participants of the project Gateway Office Partners).

There was a seminar “Maritime industry: perspectives, technical possibilities and new technologies”.

There was a seminar “Safety and treatment of the waste” in Anjalankoski.
This seminar was spent as a stage of Ecopark-project. The seminar consisted from two parts. There were several reports during the first part. There were four working group during the second part (dumps, housing wastes, industrial wastes, using of biogaz on the dumps). More than 25 Russian specialists took part in the seminar (Lenvodproject, Polygon TBO, Kosmos, ElectroEcoTechnologies, Polygon “Novy Svet”, e.t.c.). There were also more than 20 Finish specialists (Helsinki, Lappeenranta, Kouvola, e.t.c.). There was agreed the plan of the future joint projects and activities.

There was a seminar “Using of the BIO-Fuel for receiving the energy in Kotka”.
This seminar was organized by BIZKON together with Kymenlaakso Polytechnic Institute. The energy russian-finnish working group also had a meeting during this event. 15 SPb specialists took part in the seminar (Academy of sciences, JSC “Poly-NOM”, INSET Ltd., JSC “ADIN”, Baltkotlomash, Publishing House “MIR”, some enterprises from Lenoblast and others).
There were discussed some important questions, concerning russian- finnish future cooperation. There some of them:
- cooperation in the partnership in the production in Russia of the small
boilers;
- organization of the production of the pellets (wooden wastes);
- preparation of the joint project concerning “BIO-Fuel-Net”;
- consideration of some other joint projects with international financing.

2004
The delegation of the machine-building enterprises of St.-Petersburg and Leningrad region took part in the annual international exhibition " Subcontracting 2004 " in Tampere. The Centre BIZKON organized this delegation and negotiations in Tampere concerning the project SUBMET.

2004
Centre BIZKON on behalf of Leningrad Regional Government took part in "Days of small and middle business of Leningrad region". Delegation from South-East Finland, led by the Chairman of Association of the Kotka’s businessmen Mr. Ňeppo Sainio, and the Estonian representatives from Tartu and Tallinn (Easti-Russian chamber of the businessmen and NORT Management Centre), led by the General consul of Estonia in St.-Petersburg Mr. Andre Pung, arrived to the “Days…”.
Centre BIZKON organized:
- finnish-easti-russian business-meetings and negotiations (deliveries of the Finnish equipment for household service of the Leningrad region, possible joint projects concerning the preservation and revival of national handicrafts;
- presentation of the russian-finnish project SUBMET concerning Subcontracting in metal working.
- reports about the possible joint projects with Finland and Estonia concerning the women entrepreneurship for the conference "Women and business ".

Centre BIZKON organized the business-trip for the St.Petersburg delegation of the scientists and experts on the First Turku Development Forum "Science Park as a Tool for Regional Development: Possibilities and Limitations".

Mayor of Turku Mr. Armas Lahoniitty (at the centre) discusses with the chief of a Department of water tourism of St.Petersburg information-tourist centre (St.Petersburg Administration) Mr.Andrey Berezkin the offer concerning the Russian-Finnish project of Sea festivals in the Finnish gulf.
16-25.07.04. Finnish yachts in Ladoga
It was a first “many-yachts” trip from Finland to Ladoga. Centre BIZKON and City Tourist Centre were as the organizers of this event. The preparation of this trip was going during 5 months. 4 yachts and 3 vessels (motor boats from Helsinki, Porvoo, Turku, Kotka) started 15.07.04 from Kotka (all 25 sailors). Only 6 vessels started later through Neva-river to Ladoga (22 sailors). These vessels visited Konevic and Valaam islands and also Sortavala and Priozersk (these visits were organized the first time for the foreign ships). All vessels returned to SPb 25.07.04. There was press- conference in SPb after their arrival in SPb. All vessels started to Kotka 27.07.04. This trip was an important event for the development of the finnish-russian water-tourism in Finnish Gulf and in North- West Russia Region. map...
21-25.06.04. It was a first visit of BIZKON-delegation to the new region of Finland-Pajat-Hame. The invitation was received during the Spb wooden exhibition in March of this year. The main aim of this visit is to have acquaintance with the new technologies and the advantages of the wooden construction. The delegation (RUST, Eurostroj, LenTISIZ, Kosmos and others – all 28 persons) visited Cottage exhibition in Hartola, new wooden district in Lahti, some “wooden” enterprises. All these visited were very useful for the preparation of the future joint finnish - russian “wooden” project.
10-11.06.04 There was a seminar in Smolny devoted to some results and to some future plans of BIZKON (first Center BIZKON was opened in Kotka in June 1999), Committee of Foreign Affairs and Tourism was as organizer and sponsor of this event. Many Finnish officials came to 5-Anniversary of BIZKON (Mayor of Kotka, Mayor of Turku, Executive directors of Kymenlaakso and Varinaas-Suomi, Chairmen of the Finnish development Centres and others – all 30 persons). There were solemn reception from SPb Administration and also evening water trip along the Neva and Finnish Gulf. Also there were organized some visits, meetings and talks on the next day (11.06.04.).

There was a working meeting-seminar in ESCO project concerning SPb alternative sources of energy in BIZKON office. More than 10 SPb specialists took participation in this event (Polytechnical Institute, JSC “INSET”, Academy of Sciences, Ceramic Centre, Subcontracting Institute and others). Academician Y. Danilevich and lecturer M. Huhtinen were as a chiefs on this meeting. The main questions on this meeting were about some future possible joint projects: concerning innovation cross-border Centre, using of bio-fuel and reconstruction of the small hydro- power stations. The chief specialists from Turku, Kotka, Lappeenranta took participation on this event. Next meeting will take place in Kotka in autumn.
May 05-08, 2004 Centre BIZKON organized the delegation of St.Petersburg and Leningrad region representatives (5 persons) on the seminar-exhibition “Women skills” in Viljandi, Estonia. Specialists of Association “Women and business” in Russia, Development of small and medium size business and consumer market Committee of the Leningrad Regional Government and Centre “BIZKON” represented Russia. This exhibition was organized according the project PHARE. Specialists from Finland, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania and Russia took part in the seminar with the reports.

Paris

BIZKON together with Science-Technical Shipbuilding society
Paris organized the visit of SPb director group to Paris (France) on the Fifth
International Forum «Aims for Future of Engineering Science» (AFES-2004). More than 20 SPb specialists took participation in this trip. These specialists worked in two sections: «Shipbuilding» and «Welding». There was also the meeting with the group of Finnish specialist during this event. Some questions of the international development of russian-finnish project «Gateway office partners» were considered on this meeting.

Kotka

BIZKON organized the visit to Kotka the group of Maritime specialists Kotka (10 persons). Two main questions were considered during this visit.
First question was about the cooperation between Maritime Councils of SPb and South- East Finland: Finnish Maritime museum, Maritime Searching Centre in Kotka, development of Maritime Tourism. It was discussed a very interesting proposal from SPb delegation about the organization of the water passenger line between SPb and Kotka (proposal of the director JSC “ELITEN” A. Gakkel). Second question was about Gogland Island. It was very serious discussion about some problems around the opening of this Island for the free tourism. It will be necessary to decide some difficult questions with Baltic countries. Deputy of president representative in North- West Russia Mr. A. Makarov and General Council of Finland in SPb Mr. K. Iamsen took participation in this Gogland discussion.

BIZKON together with VSB company organized the russian-finnish SPb hard waste-treatment seminar in SPb. The first theoretical part took place in Smolny. There were more than one hundred russian specialists on this seminar. 11 finish specialists from Kouvola, Lappeenranta, Kotka, Lahti and Anjalankoski presented there opinion about possible cooperation it this sphere considering the new joint project (ECOPARK). Project manager Heikki Lampi presented this cross-border project financing by EU. On the second day the participants of the seminar visited the first waste treatment plant and polygon “Krasny Bor” for the dangerous wastes. General finnish council in SPb Mr. Kayko Iamsen gave a reception for the participants of the seminar.

The centre BIZKON took part in an exhibition «Cottage. Ňĺďëîâĺíň» in SKK “Petersburgsky”. St.-Petersburg firms - participants of the Centre BIZKON REMIS, RUST, NIC of fire safety and also Finnish-Russian project Strojpoint were submitted on the collective stand of the Centre BIZKON. During the exhibition the Centre BIZKON organized the international conference “Wooden construction”. Big Finnish delegation of the specialists of this area of construction took part in this conference. more...

There was a visit of the managers of some SPb construction companies to Kouvola
and Hamina. This trip was as a part of the finnish project “Strojpoint”. The aim of
this visit to help small finnish and each other as the partners. There were directors of
following Spb companies| RUST, REMIS, Elf, Sparit. There were the visits to the
Hamina enterprise of the wooden house construction, to Architect Bureau in
Kuusankosku, to Centre of construction learning in Kouvola. SPb managers visited
also the object of 5-floor building reconstruction (it is very important problem for
Spb also). Project manager of Kouvola Region Mr. Markku Saari informed about
new finnish – Russian project. The project “Strojpoint – Rus” also is intended as
continuation of finnish project “Strojpoint”.

  The business-meetings of managers St.Petersburg enterprises – the participants of Centre BIZKON (~ 40 participants) with the Finnish firms of Region took place in Turku.

There was a meeting-“Kich off” of Submet-TACIS-project. All participants and experts of this project from Russian and Finnish sides discussed the start of this project (SUBMET-subcontracting in metal treatment) Management council of this project and the personals of three working groups were elected. First group is a “partnership”. Second group is a “information”. Third group is a “killer problems”. BIZKON as a initiative company of this project became as a member in Management Council and also in two working groups. All groups must prepare during two weeks the plans of their works until the end of this year. Chief manager of this project from Finnish side – V. Herranen. Chief manager from SPb side – S. Kamenkov.

There was a meeting-presentation a future TACIS-project “Gateway office partners RUS”. V. Herranen and L. Talsi presented INTERREG project and they informed about future TACIS-project. The managers of some BIZKON members took participance in this meeting (Bankirsky Dom, Insurance Agency, Gorodissky and partners, Kachkin and partners, Civel Centre and others). These SPb companies must prepare their proposals concerning their participance in future TACIS-project. This project (Application) will be prepared by Mannet Partners Oy.

7 January 2004 Kotka

There was a meeting in Kotka about future possible project concerning wooden construction. Following finnish companies took participance in this meeting: Woodfocus, Kotka-Hamina Region, Wooden Association from Turku, Kymenlaakso Polytechnic, Eagle Group Int., Confederation of Small construction Companies. Mr. A. Varshavsky presented of BIZKON. It was decided to prepare a conception of future project as a continuation preliminary project of Eagle Group Int. (H. Laitila). It was considered also the question about finnish participation in Exhibition “Cottage. Teplovent” and Conference “Wooden construction” (SPb, SKK “Peterburgsky”, 25-28.03.04.).
